About Hamton

We built Hamton for the hour that breaks caregivers.

Sundowning arrives in the late afternoon and evening, exactly when families have the least left to give. Hamton exists to meet that moment with a voice your loved one already trusts.

Our mission

To help families keep someone they love calm, recognized, and at home for longer.

Confusion and agitation are among the leading reasons families move a loved one into full-time care before they are ready. We believe a familiar voice, paired with the methods care professionals already trust, can soften those moments and give caregivers room to breathe.

Why we started

It started with one evening that wouldn't end

Anyone who has sat with a loved one through sundowning knows the helplessness of it. The person in front of you is frightened, agitated, sure they need to leave, and nothing you say lands. Pamphlets of tips don't help in that moment. Presence does, and presence is the one thing an exhausted caregiver can't always give.

Hamton grew out of a simple observation: a voice someone recognizes reaches them faster and more gently than a stranger's ever could. So we built a way to capture those voices and the stories attached to them, then bring them back the moment they're needed most.

"Talk about what they love, not what they've lost."

That principle shapes everything we make. Hamton works from the memories your family records, so every conversation is personal, familiar, and grounded in connection rather than correction.

Person-centered Non-pharmacological Caregiver-guided
What we believe

The principles we won't compromise on

Consent comes first

A voice is the most personal thing a family can entrust to anyone. Every profile requires explicit permission from the person recorded or their authorized representative.

Privacy is the product

Memories and voice profiles are encrypted and private to your family. We never sell them, and we never train public models on them.

Honest about what it is

Hamton is a de-escalation aid that supports your care. It is not a cure, not a medical device, and never a replacement for your doctor or your presence.

Grounded in real methods

Hamton doesn't improvise. It draws on validation, reminiscence, and gentle redirection — recognized, non-pharmacological techniques for calming agitation in dementia.

Families lead

You decide whose voice to record, which memories to keep, and when to use them. Hamton follows your lead — it never acts on its own.

Care for the whole family

Sundowning wears down caregivers as much as it distresses patients. We measure success by the load we take off the people doing the caring.

Who we are

A small team building carefully

Hamton is built by people who have sat in the hard chair beside a loved one with dementia, working alongside caregivers, clinicians, and privacy specialists. We move deliberately because the thing we're handling — a family's voice and trust — deserves nothing less.

Team bios and advisors will be published here before launch. Want to help shape Hamton? Get in touch.
